Machining and marine fabrication for Karuah
Karuah sits at the top of the port on the Karuah River, and it’s oyster country — the leases up this end of Port Stephens are a working industry, not scenery. It’s about 50 minutes from us.
Oyster lease work
Oyster farming is hard on gear. Everything is permanently wet, permanently salty, and handled every day.
- Punt and barge repairs — aluminium hull cracks, deck plate, transom work
- Frames, racks and basket hardware
- Winch and hoist components — shafts, pins, bushes, mounting brackets
- Grader and tumbler parts, and repairs to processing gear
- Custom brackets and mounts for gear that’s been modified over the years and no longer matches anything you can buy
- Stainless fittings in 316, and galvanised steel where it makes more sense on cost
If the part is obsolete or was made by somebody who’s no longer around, bring us the broken one. We measure it, model it and machine a new one. That’s normal work here — no drawings required.
Boats, punts and trailers
Karuah has ramps and river access, and the local fleet is working aluminium as much as it is recreational. Cracked plate, transom repairs, rails and ladders, and trailer work — rusted members, winch posts, rollers and drawbar extensions.
Highway side
Karuah is on the highway, which means transport, plant and rural businesses as well. Pins, bushes, shafts, mounts and one-off parts — same shop, same machines.
Making the trip worth it
It’s a drive from Karuah, so ring first. Send photos, tell us what you’ve got, and we’ll tell you what to bring and whether it’s a wait-for-it job or a leave-it-with-us job. If you’re coming down with several things at once, say so — it’s easier for both of us to look at the lot in one go.
Ring 0478 790 631 before you make the drive. Send photos of the gear and we’ll tell you what to bring. 12 George Road, Salamander Bay. Mon–Fri.
